Spokane County Fire District No. 12 MEETING MINUTES November 11, 2014
I. CALL TO ORDER: Chairman Gregg Wernz called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. at the Waverly Town Hall. Commissioners present at the meeting were: Wernz, Ron Tee and Tom Pottratz. Also present was Kynda Browning, Secretary, Cindy Carlson, EMS Director and Don Evans, Fire Chief.
II. APPROVAL OF PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES: The minutes from the October 14, 2014, commissioner meeting were presented. Tom Pottratz made a motion to approve the October 14, 2014, commissioner meeting minutes as presented. Ron Tee seconded the motion; all commissioners voted yes.
III. PRESENTATION OF PETITIONS, APPLICATIONS, APPEALS, COMMUNICATIONS, ETC: There were none.
IV. REPORTS FROM STAFF: Don Evans reported: -Brush 12-1 is in Spangle being worked on. -Brush 12-3 is in Latah in place of 12-1. -There was discussion about putting chains on the fire trucks if necessary. -Fire District No. 2 will do an all- day session for blood borne pathogen, CPR and first aid will be taught.
Cindy Carlson said that if Jim Carlson doesn't get asked to teach classes, he will be dropping his certification. Don Evans said that the district would be interested in doing a class in Latah. She said she will talk to Jim Carlson to see if he is still interested.
V. OLD BUSINESS:
A. SLIP TANK FOR TRUCKS: Gregg Wernz talked about purchasing a trailer to put a slip tank on for fueling the trucks. We will get prices from local vendors for the trailer with a 500 gallon tank on it.
VI. NEW BUSINESS:
A. PUBLIC HEARING FOR 2015 TAX LEVY: Gregg Wernz opened the budget hearing. Browning went over the 2015 preliminary budget with the commissioners. Ron Tee made a motion to raise the levy by 1%, to approve Tax Levy Resolution No. 14-02 and Resolution No. 14-03 and to have Gregg Wernz sign the resolutions. Tom Pottratz seconded the motion; all commissioners voted yes. Gregg Wernz closed the public hearing.
There was discussion about the annual firefighters Dinner. Browning will check with the Brewery in Fairfield.
There was discussion about the FEMA grant. Ron Tee made a motion to apply for the 2014 FEMA grant for 14 SCPA and 14 extra tanks. Ron Tee seconded the motion; all council members voted yes.
VII. PRESENTATION OF VOUCHERS, WARRANTS, FINANCIALSTATEMENTS AND REPORTS: Payroll voucher numbers 21652 and 21682 totaling $11,044.17, and voucher numbers 21683 through 21686 totaling $1,166.22 were presented to the Commissioners for approval. Ron Tee made a motion to approve the vouchers as presented. Tom Pottratz seconded the motion; all commissioners voted yes.
VIII. ADJOURNMENT: Ron Tee made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:10 p.m. Tom Pottratz seconded the motion; all commissioners voted yes.
